It’s my goal to make you feel welcome and comfortable, by treating every person according to their individual needs.
I'm a skilled and experienced instructor, having taught students of various ages, nationalities, and language skills in Surrey and Langley. As a former overly-anxious person, I have insight into how anxiety/executive dysfunction can affect learning in new situations. This perspective allows me to communicate in a way that supports students through challenges due to anxiety and ADHD.

You are not allowed to use any electronic devices while driving except to make an emergency call to 911. This means you cannot:
- touch, operate, hold or adjust your cellphone
- use hands-free system such as Bluetooth or wired headset
- use speakerphone that can be operated with one touch or voice commands
- program a GPS system
- select music from your cellphone,
- wear earbuds
- connect your cellphone or hand-held device to play music on your in-vehicle audio system
The law applies even when you’re stopped at a red light or in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

For Supervisors
Consult Page 3 in Tuning Up for Drivers to see 5 questions to help you determine your suitability as a supervisor. If you can’t answer “yes” to all 5 questions it’s worth considering finding a more suitable supervisor, at least for some of the practice time. Supervision is about more than just chaperoning the student to get hours. The student will do most of the actual skill building during practice and they deserve a supervisor who can provide them with supportive attention, guidance, and patient feedback.
Policies
General
- Each driving lesson is 60 minutes, with a minimum of 50 minutes practice time. Up to 10 minutes of the lesson will be spent debriefing
- Students must bring their license. Arriving for a lesson without a license will incur a cancellation fee (below) and be rescheduled at the discretion of Grey Matter Driver Training, Ltd.
- Road tests: all students must bring 2 pieces of valid identification (1 primary, 1 secondary)
- Road tests: students must bring funds to pay for the road test and license fee. See ICBC fees for road tests
- Additional passengers: at the instructor’s discretion, a maximum of 1 additional person will be permitted in the vehicle for the purpose of observation during the lesson
Refund
- There will be no refund for lessons that have already taken place
- If a package is purchased, unused lessons will be refunded (used lessons will be charged at the regular rate, and the balance will be refunded)
- Refund requests must be made in writing to Grey Matter Driver Training, Ltd.
Cancellation
- Lessons must be cancelled at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance to avoid being charged for the lesson
- Cancelations must be done by e-mail, phone or text
- Lessons that are not cancelled at least twenty-four (24) hours from the scheduled time incur a $40 cancellation fee
- If the student does not show for a lesson they will be charged $40 for that lesson
- For cancelling a road test appointment made by the school, we require seventy-two (72) hours notice, as we must notify ICBC. Failure to give Grey Matter Driver Training, Ltd. seventy-two (72) hours notice may result in a late cancellation fee being charged by ICBC
